School of Opulence Receives General Operating Support Grant from ViiV Healthcare's Positive Action Community Grants Initiative

Chicago, IL – 11/7/24 – The School of Opulence is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded one year of general operating support through ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action Community Grants initiative. This grant will directly empower the School of Opulence’s mission to provide transformative, culturally affirming wellness and educational programs for Chicago’s Queer Communities of Color.

ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action Community Grants program focuses on addressing the challenges and advancing the wellness of communities most affected by HIV. With this support, the School of Opulence will continue its essential work, including TGD Wellness initiatives such as the Opulence For Everyone program, House of Harm Reduction resource days, and upcoming arts therapy programming.

“This funding from ViiV Healthcare will help us expand and strengthen the impact of our current programs, empowering us to address the intersections of mental health, food justice, and harm reduction within Chicago’s Queer Communities of Color,” said Vance White, Executive Director of the School of Opulence. “We are grateful to ViiV Healthcare for their commitment to this work and to the communities we serve.”

The School of Opulence provides accessible, high-quality mental health services through a gender-affirming lens, combined with food justice and healthcare navigation to meet the holistic needs of the community. ViiV Healthcare’s support will enable the organization to continue breaking down barriers to essential services and to build resilience among individuals who often face stigma and discrimination in traditional healthcare settings.

The School of Opulence thanks ViiV Healthcare for this generous grant and looks forward to working together to create sustainable change in the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals in Chicago.
